It’s Turkey Day! Almost…
Thanksgiving is one of my most favorite holidays. It involves family, friends, food and thanks….no presents. I like giving gifts as much as the next person, but that is for another post (which I will refrain from writing!). I love to cook, and I love to cook for many, many people. This year, we will have between 4-6 people at my house, and I grocery shopped like I was preparing a meal for 50. My husband and I laughed over the 24 pack of rolls we grabbed before exchanging them for a pack of 8.
This year we are more prepared than ever, having done all our shopping, and the kitchen was just cleaned and even purged (can you believe that?!). The one thing I am missing is a square table cloth, probably the hardest thing for me to find, anywhere. I even put up one of the scent sticks of evergreen…my husband calls it a “Mystery Christmas Tree”, I think it smells nice since he won’t let me get a real tree until after Thanksgiving.
My goal is to prep everything the night before so I don’t have to jump out of bed and do the mad dash to get everything in the oven. Regardless of how much I prepare, I always think I have a faulty thermometer popper and keep watching to make sure the turkey doesn’t cook too long. How about you? What do you obsess over on Turkey Day? Here is a quick table of cooking times, so you don’t have to obsess like I do. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at Sara Holland & Company!
