What's Happening This Weekend? We'll Tell Ya Cause It's Wednesday!

by Sara Holland & Company 10/09/2019

Here we go again.  Another Wednesday has come around, and that means another edition of our What's Happening Wednesday post, where we highlight some of the fun and family friendly activities happening around the area for you to enjoy!  The weather is cooling down, the leaves are falling down, and lots of fun is going down!  Take a fall foliage drive and take in all the beautiful fall colors, before you have to rake in all the leaves as the fall!!  A good majority of the state is at peak or near peak color, so this weekend is the perfect time to get out there and see NH in all its splendor!

As far as events and activities, there is so much happening in the area now that fall has really kicked into high gear so we are highlighting just a few of the many options in the area.

Saturday, we are hosting another great and fun Second Saturday's Event with Owls Nest Resort. This weekends event is a Glow Ball (Golf) Event, 50/50 Closest to the Pin $5 for 2 Balls Proceeds Benefit: Campton 8th Grade Class Trip *Food & Drink Specials, Fun Tunes, Great Company! Because of the GLOW! factor of our event, this one will be held a bit later than usual, from 7-9 pm at Owls Nest Resort.  Grab a couple of friends, and bring on the competition!  Check out the Flyer on our Facebook Page for more details!

This weekend is the good old Sandwich Fair, always the last fair of the season, and always on Columbus Day weekend, the fair offers three days of rides, exhibits, animals and performers sure to amaze and delight. Grab a funnel cake (or a fried dough whichever floats your boat, lets face it fried pastry is good now matter what shape it comes in!), stroll about the fairgrounds, run into your friends and neighbors, see the horse pulls, the kids pedal tractor pull or the growing in popularity womens skillet toss!  There's two parades, the antique cars parade and the Grand Parade thorugh the fairgrounds itself. Although the fair officially opens Saturday the 12th, Friday there is a Rides only special (exhibit halls will not be open!), from 4-9pm for $20 you can ride all the rides your heart desires. For more information and to check out a schedule of events, you can go to

Halloween is coming, and this means pumpkin carving! What better way to get your pumpkin than a fun tractor ride to a pick your own pumpkin patch? If that sounds like fun, then head on over to Moulton Farms in Meredith where they not only are offering tractor rides to the pick your own pumpkin patch, but they also have a fun corn maze for you to get lost in, and warm apple cider donuts hot off the press!  Tractor rides are all this weekend, including Monday (Columbus Day) from 10 am - 3 pm and the corn maze is open from 8 am- 5pm daily, now through October 30th!

October means, OKTOBERFEST! And Loon Mountain Resort will be hosting White Mountain Oktoberfest on Saturday and Sunday October 12th & 13th from 11 am-5 pm. With live music, games, food, an indoor/outdoor beer garden and much much more! Check out for tickets and special promotional packages for the event!

Now we've had fair food and cider donuts, and beer and brats, we need to work all those extra calories off.....head on over to Waterville Valley Sunday the 13th at 9:30 am for their Fall Foliage Footrace. There are options for all levels, a kids fun run, a 5k road race, and for the really determined thers a 10 mile trail race.  Tickets can be purchased in advance, check out for more information!

Phew!!! That's just a few of the fun fall festivities we found for this weekend, there are sure to be many many more out there! If you think we've missed something, or you want your event to be featured in our What's Happening Wednesday Blog, please reach out to us via email ([email protected]) or send us a message on our Facebook page.....we are always happy to hear from you!!!!!

Make it a great and memorable weekend!!
