Campton is a gateway of many sorts. Interstate 93 drops you off right in the center of town, where you can easily access Waterville Valley, Owl’s Nest Resort and the White Mountain National Forest.
Although there is no “downtown” area that you’ll see people walking, gathering or shopping, there are places that you can catch up on the local going’s on and see familiar faces. Mad River Coffee Roasters and Mad River Tavern are two of those places. The Coffee Roasters, which also serves lunch and holds events in the evening, is a growing small business that has lines consistently out the door. But don’t fret, you won’t have to wait long to grab your brew, as you’ll be occupied by friendly banter while perusing the lively bulletin board of local happenings. The Tavern is much the same way, a place where folks gather to recount their daily adventures and perhaps stop in for some famous chicken wings after a full moon hike!
The local Garden Club does a phenomenal job maintaining the bridge at the Campton Dam. You’ve seen the photos a million times, of Welch & Dickey in the background with vibrant flower petals dancing in the breeze.
